Privacy & Cookies Policy

Last updated 19 July 2026. This covers timeline-lens.com and the Timeline Lens browser extension.

Overview

The short version.

This website and the timeline-lens browser extension are built and operated by Huudi ("we", "us"). We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the site and, where you've installed it, the extension:

  • This website only sets analytics cookies (Google Analytics) after you accept them in the cookie banner. Nothing is tracked before you consent.
  • The browser extension is free to install from the Chrome Web Store, with an optional one-time $9.99 Pro upgrade. Payment and license verification for Pro are handled by Extension Pay, not by us directly.
  • We never sell your data, and we don't run any advertising trackers.

What we collect

Two sources of data, kept separate.

We don't run our own account system or database of visitors. Almost everything described below is collected and processed by the two third-party services this policy is about: Google Analytics (for the website) and Extension Pay (for the browser extension's Pro upgrade). Anything we hold ourselves — such as an email you send us directly — is limited to what you choose to share, e.g. by emailing [email protected] or opening an issue on GitHub.

Website analytics

Google Analytics (GA4).

If you accept the "Analytics" category in our cookie banner, we load Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate traffic to this site: which pages get read, roughly how visitors arrive, and general device/browser/location information at a country or city level. It is not loaded, and no GA cookie is set, until you accept.

Google Analytics collects, on our behalf:

  • A randomly generated client ID stored in the _ga cookies (not your name or account).
  • Pages viewed, referring site, approximate location (from IP, which Google truncates), device and browser type.
  • Basic engagement events, such as scroll depth and outbound link clicks, if GA4's default events are enabled.

This data is processed by Google LLC under its own privacy policy, and may be transferred to and processed in the United States. You can withdraw consent at any time from the "Manage preferences" link in the cookie banner, or via your browser's cookie settings, and you can install Google's opt-out browser add-on to block GA on any site.

Browser extension payments

Extension Pay.

The Timeline Lens browser extension is free to install. Unlocking the Pro upgrade — a one-time $9.99 purchase, no subscription — is handled by Extension Pay, a third-party service built for Chrome/Firefox extension payments. We never see or store your card details — Extension Pay uses Stripe to process the actual payment.

To process your purchase and verify your license, Extension Pay collects and stores:

  • The email address you use to check out.
  • Your payment status and transaction history, on Stripe's side.
  • A unique identifier generated by Extension Pay for your browser installation, used only to verify your purchase when the extension checks it.

We receive confirmation of your purchase from Extension Pay so the extension can unlock — we do not receive your card number, CVC, or full billing address. See Extension Pay's own terms and Stripe's privacy policy linked above for how each of them handles your data.

Cookies

Every cookie this site can set.

"Necessary" cookies are required for the site to function and are never gated behind consent. "Analytics" cookies only get set once you accept that category.

Cookie Provider Purpose Duration
cc_cookie This site (vanilla-cookieconsent) Remembers your cookie preferences so we don't ask again. 6 months
analyticsAccepted This site Records that you accepted the Analytics category, so Google Analytics stays off until you do. 1 year
_ga, _ga_* Google Analytics Distinguishes visitors and sessions for aggregate traffic reporting. Up to 2 years
_gid Google Analytics Distinguishes visitors for short-window traffic reporting. 24 hours

The browser extension does not use cookies at all — it runs inside your browser's extension sandbox and communicates with Extension Pay directly to check subscription status.

Your rights

You're in control of your data.

Depending on where you're located, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export the data held about you, and to withdraw consent to analytics at any time. To exercise any of these:

  • Analytics cookies — reopen the cookie banner's "Manage preferences" link, or clear cookies for this site in your browser, at any time.
  • Extension Pay / purchase data — contact Extension Pay directly, or email us at [email protected] and we'll help route the request.
  • Anything else — email [email protected] and we'll respond as soon as we can.

We may update this policy as the site or extension change — for example, if a new analytics or payment provider is added. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
